Section 28 Fitter Training
If you want to get qualified please contact the centre to discuss your way forward and if you meet the Merseta requirements an application can be submitted to Merseta for Trade Test dates.
Section 28 Method:
Training can be done part-time(weekends) or full time for private students.
Section 28 Evaluation:
An assessment will be conducted, on the outcome of the assessments a training programme will be designed to suit your needs. At the end of the training programme a report will be issued on the outcome of your training.

ASSESSMENT: Assessments are offered at various levels of learner development, including pre-trade test assessment.
Duration: Depends on outcome of pre-assessment

- Marking Off
- Basic Bearing Maintenance
- Indirect Drives (V- Belt & Chain)
- Direct Drives (Couplings)
- Manufacture Keys
- Marking Off & Drilling of Flanges
- Direct Drives (Couplings)
- Pumps
- Gearboxes
- Introduction to Pneumatics
- Introduction to Hydraulics
These courses are aimed at handymen/artisan assistants, operators or any persons who wish to develop their basic engineering skills. All courses are offered as 5 day modules and learners/companies can choose which modules they would like to attend. Theoretical and practical components of the tasks are covered during instruction and learners will be required to do a practical and theoretical assessment of all tasks.
Duration: Modules are set at 5 days and the total duration depends on number of modules covered.
